Storyline

A looping thrill ride at the break of dawn, in which a winning lottery ticket stirs greed and violence.

As dawn breaks, an old man walks into a local bar on the outskirts of Paris, where nighthawks rub shoulders with cops and an ambulance worker. When it appears that the man holds a winning lottery ticket, worth nearly three hundred million, all their lives change forever.

Vincent Maël Cardona’s second feature is a looping thriller, starting over and over again, replaying the story from different perspectives. As the film progresses, all the characters become more layered – either through their backstories or their reactions to what’s going on, as a piece of paper holding a fortune becomes the centre of a whirlwind of greed, chaos and bloody violence. Cinematographer Brice Pancot works miracles inside the tiny, unassuming bar, turning it into a claustrophobic battleground. Supported by an excellent cast, Cardona constantly keeps you guessing.
