The Queer Agenda will be screening Copa 71 on Thursday June 19. The documentary has been a large inspiration for The Queer Football Club(house), the month-long pop up by The Queer Agenda located across the central passage from the FilmHallen as well as v̶r̶o̶u̶w̶e̶n̶ Voetbal, a photography exhibition by the collective, capturing the football lovers who don’t always get the visibility they deserve. After the screening, there will be a panel discussion featuring those who remember the tournament themselves, as well as those who work to ensure women’s football remains visible today.
The extraordinary story of the 1971 Women’s World Cup, which was held in Mexico City and witnessed by more than 100,000 fans. This landmark tournament was dismissed by FIFA and written out of sports history – until now, with dazzling archival footage and interviews with the former players.
